So what is causing THREE PROGRESSIVE FRAMES and TWO INTERLACED FRAMES? I don’t understand that.

    A B C d e

ABC are progressive, and D & E are interlaced. Do I have to redump everything with a different setting or is there something that can resolve this issue?

I figured it out. Jeash I can’t believe what the problem was…

Since I was editing in a 29.97 timebase with the 24p (NORMAL) footage all I had to do was set the FIELD DOMINANCE to “Upper (odd)”. I thought I tried this before, but I might have just tried it with the footage I tried to do REVERSE TELECINE on.

So to sum up. With 24p NORMAL, you have to edit on a 29.97 timebase, you cannot reverse telecine, and you have to have a field dominance set. If you don’t set the field dominance it looks pretty bad, every 3rd and 4th frame is interlaced. With the field dominance set to UPPER, every 5th frame is basically a duplicate of the 4th frame, which is how 24p should look on a 29.97 timebase.

I tried this method of picking the A FRAME and then selecting the “REV TELECINE”. This resulted in the exact same output.

The footage appears to be shot at 24p NORMAL (not advanced). From what you’re telling me I should be editing the 24p footage in a 29.97 timebase. When I do this, I can see clearly two out of five frames are still interlaced. Is this expected?

I uploaded 10 sequencial frames from the sequence at this location:

    Thanks.

I captured the footage with a Panasonic AJ-SD93 deck plugged in FIREWIRE directly to my powermac.

If interested I posted a small clip of the footage here (44mb):

If you can, please tell me how to get it to 23.98fps without ANY interlacing.

That is my understanding also, the problem is in Cinema Tool there are no options for picking the A FRAME or any settings at all. I posted a screenshot of what I am seeing in Cinema Tools.

    Thanks.
