May 24, 2012 at 10:18 pm in reply to: External RAID solution for HD projects in FCP and After Effect (best for protection / speed)Thanks Ryan
I’m looking in the $1,500 – $2,000 range. I mostly work in Pro Res and some XDCAM. Rarely uncompressed. I will be connecting it via Firewire800 or if I need to add an esata card.I really need something that has redundancy for back up. I had one drive fail (luckily just started the project) but I don’t want that kind of stress again.
Thanks again!

1. Use the mesh warp to animate the scrunch
2. Duplicate the layer and set the transfer mode of the top layer to MULTIPLY
3. Go down your timeline where the scrunch is at it’s widest. Using the Mask tool draw around the scrunch area. Then feather it slightly (around 8-10 depending). Set a keyframe for Mask Expansion(0).
4. Move to the beginning of the scrunch effect. Set a keyframe for the mask expansion to a negative number (ex.: -15) until you no longer see the darkness of the top layer.
5. Duplicate top layer to make darker or use color correction tools to darken.I attached a link to a very rough example. Let me know if you have any questions.

Wesh Warp should do it. You may want to cheat a shadow where the bed is being pushed down to help sell the effect.

It has been over 24 hours since I sent an e-mail asking for a refund and still no word!

I have been using FCP since 2003 and this is the biggest step backwards I have seen Apple make to any of their software. It is a glorified version of iMovie. I have spent the last 4 hours playing around and find very little to be impressed by. I do love the background rendering, the instant preview looks for the effects and mostly. the audio tools integrated from Soundtrack. Looks like I will be staying at FCP 7 and wishing for a refund.

April 25, 2011 at 10:57 pm in reply to: AVID export no audio / And no playing in timelineJust found out from the feature editor that the sequence I received did have some corrupt audio files. They had to go back a day to a previous cut and resend it.
Good news is problem solved, bad news lost a day!

April 23, 2011 at 11:43 pm in reply to: AVID export no audio / And no playing in timelineNot that I can see. I was able to export the sequence as a Quicktime when I removed all the audio except from channels 1 and 2. My guess is something was corrupt on one of the other 12 channels or computer couldn’t handle it for some crazy reason. I still can’t figure out what the problem is, but this work around at least gets me cutting. Any ideas? And thanks for the help.

Thanks guys for you help! I just added the dual link adaptor and the problem seems to be fixed. I just read over the link Colin posted and that was exactly my problem. The problem was much worst on large white windows against black backgrounds.
I think this new cable solved the problem. Thanks again
