  • I did have openGL enabled, but I’ve now disabled it and still get the same issue.

I disabled it in preferences->preview, is there somewhere else I should be disabling it as well?

  • As it comes down over the camera I want to see the 3D sides of the text, as if it’s one of those shots you see in sci-fi movies where the camera is looking at open space and then a ship flies in slowly from behind the camera, and we see the side of the ship as it crosses.

Also wouldn’t the screenshot include the background too, not just the text?

  • I’ve tried various ways of applying the texture to the text. Right now it’s set up with the texture layer above the text layer, and for the text layer I’m blending with add, with a track matte of luma.

I’ve also tried applying the shatter effect to the texture layer instead of the text layer, among a few others.

  • Here is what I was trying to attach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB3aNm3P0_I

For custom shatter map, my only options are to pick a layer. I just picked the text layer itself (which is what was set by default), is that right?

  • I’m also getting another weird issue with this. The “inside of the text” is falling farther and faster than the “outside” (the edges that make it 3d) of the text.

You can see what I’m talking about here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Vcize2

That’s all one 3D piece of text, but as you can see the “inside” of the text falls beneath the outside of it, which becomes unattached.

    This is using a camera.

  • I will also be applying effects to the text (a light beam shining around the edge of it).

  • Actually the camera is the first thing I tried. Even when animating the camera the texture moves around on the text as I zoom on it.

    Nevermind, I figured it out.

I just put the texture layer above the text layer, hid the texture layer, and then selected luma matte for my the track matte on my text layer.

However when I move it around the texture background stays static, giving the impression of the texture on the text changing. Is there a way to make the texture “stick” to the text without going back and making a whole new comp out of it (can’t just convert this one to a new comp because it has lots of other stuff in it)?

That still changed the color to the same (grayscale) color of the texture.
