I have all the symptoms as well but I am on an IMac 2014

I am experiencing the same problem on my new IMac.

I am going to try and roll back down to Mavericks and see if that helps me resume my normal workflow.

will report back.

Hopefully we get a solution in the form of an update soon as I actually like many of the new features in Yosemite
