    Hi,

Well I wonder what MrVideo is quoting????….. because if you look at the break down of my stats I am getting 65MB/s with Random Reads… Only with buffered or sequential reads I am getting 445/202?

    Benchmark Breakdown
    Buffered Read : 445 MB/s
    Sequential Read : 202 MB/s
    Random Read : 65 MB/s
    Buffered Write : 395 MB/s
    Sequential Write : 225 MB/s
    Random Write : 105 MB/s
Average Access Time : 10 ms (estimated)

I wonder what figures people quote most often?? because they vary considerabley?

    Cheers

Thanks for your reply Paul – My suspicion that the DeckLink card wouldn’t actually give me any extra acceleration is true. The marketing material is quite deceptive for newbie!

Anyway I know that my HD system needs to be upgraded it is just a 2*Maxtor 300MB 16MB Cache in RAID 0 configuration and I get 146MB/S throughput. I am planning on upgrading the HD’s.

But with regards to the CODEC. At the moment I am using the lossless HUFFY 2.1.1 CODEC. Can you recommend a good lossless CODEC that would be suitable for realtime playback of HD material?

I tried using the BM CODEC’s. I done a clip export from AE with the BM QT CODEC. Created a project in Premiere using the BM 1080P project option. Imported the clip. Previewing is fine – but it won’t play back within Premiere – presumably you need to have the card!

    Cheers

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your response. Sorry for the stupid questions, but from what I am reading from you is the card is just good for getting stuff in and then out to external sources.

I am not interested in getting the stuff out externally, and I already have the footage on the PC in AVI uncompressed format. All I am looking for is a solution to speed up playback within Premiere Pro? Is the DeckLink good for this or do I need to look at something else?

    Cheers

    Robert
