If your source is CG there is simply nothing better than SheerVideo. Do a search over at the LAFCPUG forum and you will find my fairly detailed posts about my progress with SheerVideo on some major animation projects.

There are easy setups for FCP in the extras folder in the SheerVideo installer. Try using one of those. You have to make sure that your sequence QT settings and the SheerVideo codec settings are EXACTLY the same, otherwise you will have render and playback problems, even though FCP does not think the sequence needs rendering. It will work once you get it set up right and it is worth the effort. An amazing codec.

What Mac are you running? The codec won’t run on intel macs. Very frustrating. I wan to use SheerVideo on several large animation projects but I haven’t been able to get an answer about when or if a UB version will be available. It’s a real shame if Andreas has abandon development. It’s an amazing codec.
