Then I would buy an external hard drive and digitize everything to it. DV is about 13.5GB/hour of footage. On a 500GB drive you can get almost 35 hours of DV video.

Yes. 60i to 24p conversion after the fact.
Unless your footage has a 2:3 pulldown in it, but I don’t know if that’s what he was dealing with.
