What is best strategy for backing up 1/2 movies ( no editing, just backing up the whole chuch of footage)

I ask this, because it gets very confusing capturing, in that you have to have project file right? and call this big chuck of footag a clip? right?

    I don’t understand what you’re asking.

Though that helps a lot, I’m still confused?

Why are you backing them up? So you can use them whenever you want? Just incase the masters burn to the ground?

What format are the tapes on?

Yes, Russ that is exactly why I’m backing them up. They are from mini DV.

Then I would buy an external hard drive and digitize everything to it. DV is about 13.5GB/hour of footage. On a 500GB drive you can get almost 35 hours of DV video.
