24PA footage if properly captured over firewire is 23.98 footage. You don’t have to render the clip when you put it in the timeline right? Just when you do something to it like a transition or filter?

On the top left side of the timeline, there is a little button that says RT. Set it to unlimited and then also set the other settings to dynamic.
Does that help?

What are the specs on the system that your editing on? What type of footage are you editing?
What version of FCP?It isn’t normal to have to render that often unless you’re on an old system or editing file formats that aren’t standard broadcast settings.

It reminds me of the time I figured out that I had the super powers to make the mouse arrow follow my eyes! (It was late one night and I’ve never been able to duplicate it. So much for my other super powers.)
