Look forward to hearing how it turns out as it’s similar to a problem i had before.

I’m currently cutting a short film in ProRes so i will live and learn!

Ok so i should be alright with it? Yea i shot the 59fps in 1280 x 720p and the other footage in 1920 x 1080.

There is no field dominance on any of it as i converted all the footage using mpeg streamclip to use with ProRes 422. I think i (must have!) De-interlaced all the 1080 footage.

    Cheers!

Ok so i converted all the footage to prores 422 (unchecked the interlacing box for the progressive footage, left it checked for the interlaced footage). Scaled the bigger footage down to 720 and had my FCP timeline sequences set to prores 422 and its fantastic. I haven’t finished editing yet so will report back with the outcome of my final output.

    Cheers for the help!

Used the Mpeg streamclip to convert to ProRes 422 and the footage i shot in progressive, i uncheck the deinteraced scaling box. Do i leave it check for the footage i shot interlaced?

    Thanks for all your help!

Hi Bret, thanks for the advice.

The other person who has replied strongly recommends prores, do you use that codec?

Ok cool, how would you convert them? They’re .MOV files on an external hard drive.

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply!

I’m based in the UK so just assumed it would be PAL!

So when you say cut in a ProRes 422 timeline, do you mean have the sequence set to that before i start importing clips to my bin/adding them to timeline?

This may seem a stupid question, being fairly inexperienced compared to a lot of others i’m not sure what the benefits of using ProRes are? Seems that a lot of people like using it but ive never tried.

Also am i right in thinking i cant burn HD to DVD to i’d need to convert to SD? Unless i burn it to Blu Ray?

Once again, thanks for your time. Very helpful! 🙂
