“4444 codecs can be RGB or YCrCb, and by default the Apple ProRes codecs encode to RGB only from RGB originals and all else is maintained as YCrCb”

    Hi Gary,

I think you may have the answers I am looking for. Your post does make sense to me as why I may have been having trouble getting an RGB signal from hdcam sr material, captured via dual-link. When I view the captured file, I’m getting a YCrCb signal through the Kona card. So I tried rendering some other RGB material, DPX files, AJA RGB 10 bit encoded QT, etc, all into ProRes4444 and still I see a YCrCb.

Any ideas? Should I ever see RGB from a ProRes4444 file through the kona like the AJA RGB 10 bit codec displays?

Thanks to you and anyone for the help.

    Rudy

Thanks everyone for the responses, but unfortunately, I still cannot get an RGB ProRes 4444 file.

Arnie- “,b>Audio Visual Preferences, click on the Capture Settings tab, make a duplicate of the capture setting and change the digitizer from YUV to RGB.”

Sounds great, but unless I am blind, nowhere in the capture settings is anything about YUV or RGB, digitzer options are either 8 bit or 10 bit, even at the 2k sizes.

Anybody else working with ProRes4444 yet? Good or bad experiences?

    ??????

Ok, according to FCP 7 documentation,

The Apple ProRes format supports the following digital video signals:
    RGB
    4:2:2 Y′CBCR
    4:4:4 Y′CBCR

And yes, I was testing using AJA 10 bit RGB codec footage. FCP cannot render in RGB 10 bit? Then why when I do render video using the AJA RGB codec does the Kona 3 see a 10-b RGB signal in the frame buffer?

Where is this information that FC cannot render in RGB 10 bit come from, the manual?

    Thanks
