    The moment i try to import a .srt file, AE gives me an error.
    This is in CC2018.
    What format do you choose when you import?

    Cheers,

    Thank you for your reply, i apreciate you took the time.
    Project settings are set to 25 fps but still sequences get imported as 24fps. I can change them after importing of course, but it’s a step likely to be forgotten.

    Page 133 does tell me about data levels, but nothing about color spaces. There is no option to select sRGB or linear or anything. It’s just levels, video or full. I interpret that as 16-235 or 0-255 but maybe i’m not understanding this correctly.

    Page 584 is not the answer to my question neither. It talks about “importing different versions of the same clip, with identical filenames” but this is rarely the case in my experience. When we render stuf, we usually put a versionnumber somewhere in the filename, making the identical filenames not work.

    Hope this make my questions a bit clearer.
    Cheers,
    Rudi

    If you mean the characters in https://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/jarhead/ then i think you can do it as follows:

    Make a new Text.
    Animate->Scale
    unlink horizontal and vertical scale and put the horizontal scale to 0.
    In Animator 1 edit the Range Selector start of end, depending which direction you want the text to appear. Keyframe this start or end selector.

    If this all will not work for you, you can also use card wipe, as long as the character spacing is more or less uniform.

    Good luck
