Jarhead Text Effect
Does anyone know a quick and simple way how to create a text effect similar to the one used for the title in the Jarhead trailer? I am talking about the way the title’s text reveals itself letter by letter.

If you mean the characters in https://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/jarhead/ then i think you can do it as follows:
Make a new Text.
Animate->Scale
unlink horizontal and vertical scale and put the horizontal scale to 0.
In Animator 1 edit the Range Selector start of end, depending which direction you want the text to appear. Keyframe this start or end selector.If this all will not work for you, you can also use card wipe, as long as the character spacing is more or less uniform.
