Hey you guys–thanks for the great suggestions. I actually ended up setting the roll options to have a “post roll” of 90 frames, so the text roll stops moving, and then stays on screen for the few seconds I was looking for before fading out.

Always amazing the creativity that comes from this forum!! Thanks again-

Couldn’t find the pulldown for deinterlace settings–maybe because the footage was exported from PPro deinterlaced? I dunno. Any suggestions on where to find it and also what to change them to for the desired effect? Thanks again-

Thanks for the deinterlacing tip. I’ll try that and see if it helps. Given my newbie status, and not knowing how to tweak in a user-friendly app like Squeeze, something like ProCoder might be too steep of a learning curve–but thanks for the opinion–I appreciate it.

Thanks Ken. Yeah, I always ask if they’d be willing to take them off, and with this particular guy, he really wasn’t comfortable and I thought it wd throw off the interview. But, thanks for the tips–I appreciate them!

Thanks for your response. Yes, we paid the crew. They set things up and then left an operator who was not very experienced to do the shoot. He had headphones on–told me about the noise he was hearing and we adjusted the mic several times, but, because I was not in control of the shoot and didn’t know what was producing the noise (which he said got better over time, but nonetheless is still on the tape in numerous places throughout), I was dependent on him to let me know what was going on. At any rate–I will try the fixes you mentioned. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Hmmm, tried it on one, and when I finally got the highlight small enough for it to accept it, it seemed to essentially remove the entire sound (voice) not just the mystery noise…

Thanks a lot Willie. I will try this out on the worst offenders and if it doesn’t help, take you up on your offer.

    take care-

July 13, 2006 at 7:57 pm in reply to: export settings

Thanks for the response, but because the client will be editing this footage, I don’t want to step on it–hence the uncompressed video setting.

After exporting though, I noticed two things–one is that the video was distorted–too wide, and the second is that it wouldn’t play back in the QT viewer or PPro without stuttering badly. I tried exporting with “square pixels” rather than my usual 0.9, and that fixed the distortion, but I’m wondering why it’s stuttering. Doesn’t do so when I export without compression as an avi.

Should I export as square pixels or .9 and any explanation for the stuttering?

    thanks-
