October 12, 2017 at 5:50 am in reply to: Anyone know how to fix XML DTD validation import issues?Hi Andreas,
Help please!! I just bought PluralEyes and am struggling….
I am getting this message when trying to export an XML from PluralEyes to FCPX:
The XML document sent from application “PluralEyes 4” could not be imported.
DTD validation failed. (Element asset-clip content does not follow the DTD, expecting (note? , (conform-rate? , timeMap?) , ((adjust-crop? , adjust-corners? , adjust-conform? , adjust-transform? , adjust-blend? , adjust-stabilization? , adjust-rollingShutter?) , adjust-volume? , adjust-panner?) , (audio | video | clip | title | mc-clip | ref-clip | sync-clip | asset-clip | audition | spine)* , (marker | chapter-marker | rating | keyword | analysis-marker)* , audio-channel-source* , (filter-video | filter-video-mask)* ,…)I read above that you said I should duplicate the XML but I can’t even find it, as it sends it directly to FCPX! Where does PluralEyes store them so that I can try your trick? Does that mean I have to do this every single time I export from PluralEyes or is there a way to make PluralEyes and FCPX work better together??
Thank you!

Hi there, did you find a solution to your problem? I am getting the same red boxes with ‘audio levelling failed’ and I have no idea how to change anything as I can’t see any options…. any advice welcomed!

Finally done – two days later, I can start work! Thanks for your recommendations everyone.

Yes, it’s .mpg.
I have finally been able to convert them to Prores 422 using Adobe Media Encoder CS4, HOWEVER, I can’t seem to get rid of these annoying letterbox black ends on the resulting clip!
Are you by any chance an expert on Adobe Media Encoder?
Here are the export settings I’ve used and the result is that the file is letterboxed (with black panels down the sides)

Any idea why?
Which of the following aspect ratios should I choose to maintain the original 1440×1080 without windowboxing?

Thanks!

July 20, 2016 at 1:25 am in reply to: Can’t convert MPEG video to Apple Prores 422 for use in FCPX with MPEG Streamclip – getting black screen with soundHi, I tried downloading the free trial you suggested but it won’t accept my file due to the size of it (you’re only allowed to do 60sec) yet I can’t open my 1hr long file in any kind of editing software to cut a 60sec sample.
Then I tried to download the trial of Media Encoder but it says I’m running the wrong operating system… aaaahhhhhh
So frustrating!
I still don’t understand what is missing, as I can see the MPEG-2 video in VLC yet the image won’t appear in Compressor or MPEG Streamclip.I found the info below, and followed it but eventually it said that I already have it installed, so it beats me!
“The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion and Mountain Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion and Mountain Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.To install the component in Lion or Mountain Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b8 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component M. Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion or Mountain Lion. The original installer’s disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion and Mountain Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion and Mountain Lion. You don’t have to install QuickTime 7.”
Still not able to see anything…. anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for your response.
FCPX won’t let me import the files to even attempt any kind of conversion. They just don’t even appear to select them.I just tried compressor and when I opened one of the files in compressor, I had the same issue of the compressor window being white yet I can hear the sound. So I didn’t attempt to convert it as last time I tried with MEPG Streamclip it took over 12 hours!
I can view the MPEG clips that I have been supplied with totally fine with VLC and Quicktime player.
As soon as I try to import them into MEPG Streamclip or compressor all I get is sound.
Thoughts?

I have Final Cut Pro Studio installed already. It didn’t appear to have DVD Studio Pro in the kit so I tried downloading it but it wouldn’t allow me, saying my computer didn’t need it! (??)
Do you know which component need to be installed? And is installing them enough for MPEG streamclip to use them?
So back to square one.
Is MPEG Streamclip the best piece of software for this conversion or could you suggest something else?
Thanks for your time

Thanks.. It’s been an even longer day for me so my brain is working slowly… question: “You need to go back to the project and drag it out to the new length.” How do I do this?
I have already edited, so there is no point going back to the master, it is too late for that, and I need to export it for a screening tomorrow.. so how do I drag it out like you said? Or is there a shortcut to exporting it inc the part with the diagonal lines just for now? THanks so much for your time 🙂 -
hmmmm that’s something to think about. I didn’t actually know you could disable the auto-render. On another note (since you seem to know what you are talking about), when I duplicated my project it duplicated exactly the same size project obviously, of 25min. Then I added 5min of footage hoping to extend my project to 30min. But the additional time over 25min appears outside the project area and in an area covered with diagonal black thin lines (still visible but covered with lines), which means when I tried to export the project, it only wants to export the first 25min. If I do I and O and then export, it changes the length of the export but how do I lengthen the project itself to include the added clips? Thanks!
