August 4, 2011 at 4:11 pm in reply to: footage is pixelated – can someone check if this is normal?OH..ok got ur point.
I’m sorry but i did a quick check on this shot the other day
and deleted it right away, so i don’t really remember the cue point.
But i assume the did a good work on preparation/filming.
So the only thing the have to look after is a decent Key.
Only florian herweg can give us a feedback about. -

August 3, 2011 at 8:35 pm in reply to: footage is pixelated – can someone check if this is normal?as long as i remember the shot that florian herweg posted,
was about a guy making 3-4 steps to place him self against the green screen.
So I guess they used a green backdrop as large as they needed
The rest seemed to be a matter of editing, garbage masking and a good key.
So i don’t think they need to do any roto, unless they need to composite a complex shot.
Anyway you are possibly talking generally for the steps of a process, so i might misunderstood. -

August 3, 2011 at 7:41 pm in reply to: footage is pixelated – can someone check if this is normal?Apart of a slow drive i think the core is responsible for a choppy
playback, cause i have an Acer Aspire Intel Core i5 which plays my DSLR 1080 perfectly.
Btw y you recommend roto? u don’t talk about garbage masking right?

it’s typical H.264 compression.
All u need is some enhancement to get rid of this artifact.
Try Neat plugin or denoiser by RedGiant
But in some cases depending on the composite background u can get a decent key without any denoiser.
Also a deartifacter plugin can be the solution.
check Red Giant Composite Wizard.
good Luck -
it depends .
If this is a dslr project, then a motorized slider [ the market is full ] sounds ideal, but you cant have a free camera movement.
For a heavy film camera my approach may bypass lots of obstacles and cost, plus you can have more complex shots.
it sounds tricky-dirty but its just a compositing.
This procedure was effective for me in the past.
Having twins in the scene is the easiest way and it will return best results.
But unless u r running a good production and u r lucky enough with casting.
I’ll take that bravo as a friendly comment.
making suggestions and having a chat by the same aspect is always preferable.
cheers. -
hey depends of the style of the shot,
but in case there is no complex camera movement, I’d recommend this:
Start your camera rolling, do the movement as you like [ almost ] and while your talent/s is out of the shot, tell them not to appear in this place for the camera return.
So you will end up with a clean plate/ empty room.
Then u may try to fix a backdrop green screen in this final location of the room/space.
Mount your camera on tripod/panther but don’t make any movement for the green screen part.
Bare in mind to have the same angle/lens/lighting as it should be in the final shot .
Set your talents against green screen backdrop.
Continue filming the scene.
Then use a 2d/3d camera tracker to get a virtual camera of the shot that you filmed previously .
Composite the end part.
Since your shot will be in a house or something there would be lots of useful points for tracking.
However you can always set a decor that will help with this.
If you need your talents to be sitting on a sofa/bed try warping green fabric on the furniture [ this wold make it quite hard ]
lighting – shadows and a good chroma keying will do the trick.
But in the end it might work.
Hope it helps . -
My approach is not to deal with any codec.
I’d recommend ( if i may ) u to work with dpx or tiff Sequences for read/write.
All you have to take care after this is a just a hard drive space / low cost nowadays!
But rendering as Seq. u will always have the option to resume render after a crash
and u’ll be able to check the rendered frames whilst rendering as well.
Once u happy just deliver it to the final file format. -
So the cg elements are ok through the clip, but not the live action movie.
How about pre-render /replace the original quicktime movie with a tiff sequence?
Then you can fire up your final composite render!
It might be a transcode error
Do u play with dslr H.264 ? -

July 28, 2011 at 1:49 am in reply to: Gradually increase the speed of an audio clip?Thats what everyone is looking for.
a twixtor plugin for audio. but i think there is nothing out there yet.
There is a tool in Magix Sequoia which is called elastic audio, but as far as i remember it alternates the tonality under time curves but not the length of the clip.
Anyone knows more would be nice to tell us more.
