I know it is frustrating watching tutorials, but for mocha a few tips can go a long way to do a lot more advanced tracking.

November 10, 2015 at 4:47 pm in reply to: Mocha tracking data export is giving static keyframes (all keyframes are same)I believe that you are manually moving the spline but not moving the track data.
Turn on the “Surface” button. (see viewer control documentation if you do not know what the surface button is: https://www.imagineersystems.com/support/documentation/#The_Viewer_Controls)
The surface represents the track data, (not the spline). If you are using manual track, but not animating the surface, that is the issue. Position the surface where you want to track and hand animate it.
I would strongly encourage new users to not use manual track. This is a last ditch effort for very difficult tracks. In general when a mocha track fails, you can often adjust the spline and focus on other areas and re-track. Sometimes using the X+ button and finding more areas on the same relative plan to track.
For a guitar, you may be able to track the frets (avoiding the hands) which move on the same relative plane as the body of guitar.
Hopefully this helps. From your message, it still seems like this is a bit of new user error. If you are still having problems, I would recommend contacting mocha support:

November 9, 2015 at 2:30 pm in reply to: Mocha tracking data export is giving static keyframes (all keyframes are same)Manual track only represents the “SURFACE” the blue box that represents your tracking data.
If you want to hand roto a mask, you do not need manual track on, simply animate the mocha spline shape with keyframes.
I suspect that you have not tracked, so any tracking keyframes would be blank. If you want to spline/mask keyframes, you export shape not track.
Hope that helps.

If you are already using mocha AE for the tracking, you may as well use mocha for the masking instead of applying the tracked data to a solid.
You can create a mask shape layer in mocha AE, link it to a track (or simply edit the tracked shape to be a tight mask) and then in mocha AE choose, export shape.
Select mocha shape data format and paste back in AE.

November 5, 2015 at 11:38 pm in reply to: Does anyone have a better way to reposition keyframed, animated masks?mocha Pro v4 added some really great tools for stereo 3D offsets. Essentially all the mocha planar tracking, masking and object remove tools were updated to perform the functions on stereo footage.
Some 3D stereo workflows employ an offset for disparity, but mocha does a cool trick where it actually tracks the difference between the L & R footage and automatically creates the offset. This is especially relevant for footage that changes depth.
Anyways, check out these tutorials: https://www.imagineersystems.com/video/?tagFilter=Stereo%203D&dd=dateNew&orderby=date&order=DESC
I believe the combination of mocha Pro and AE is a great workflow for S3D effects and compositing. Otherwise, you might want to look at NUKE or Fusion which have a more evolved workflow for stereo than AE. Hope this helps.

If your search area is only over the white on cup, it is unlikely you will get a quality track.
You probably need to adjust the area that you are tracking to include some of the edges of the cup, but avoid the liquid and other objects.
In general tracking pure white is very difficult for any tracker. mocha’s planar tracker is looking for texture. Pure white has no values to track.
It might be worth learning more about planar tracking with this video series:

October 21, 2015 at 2:56 pm in reply to: Tracking 3D Text in Apple Motion Using Tracking Data From MochaAre you tracking the entire clip or just a portion?
I would recommend contacting mocha support:
https://www.imagineersystems.com/support/contact-support/mocha’s Apple Motion export has not changed in quite a while, so if you are looking for a simpler solution for Text tracking in FCPX, I highly recommend CoreMelts products that are powered by the mocha planer tracking engine: https://www.imagineersystems.com/products/partner-products/slicex-trackx-drivex/

You may need to provide more information, but in general mocha should not have an issue to roto and track on proxy (lower res) footage and auto scale the output track or roto data.
I would try to relink to the higher 4k res footage in mocha (under clip tab), make sure the track lines up, then export to AE.
If you are still having issues, I would encourage you to log a case at:

October 5, 2015 at 4:34 pm in reply to: Mocha CS5.5 works but doesn’t appear in After effectsIn AE CS4 & CS5, mocha AE only opened on its own from the application folder.
I believe it was the CS6 release and now CC, that mocha AE can be launched from directly within AE under the Animation Menu>track in mocha.
