You’re wanting to pan the audio? You have a Pan mode under the Audio tab in the inspector after a clip is selected in the timeline, is that what you’re looking for?

You could detach the audio from the video clip and then select the video clip and hit V. You could then select both audio and video and convert it to a compound clip if you’re worried about it getting out of sync. This way, you could always re-enable the video portion if desired.

Okay, I’ve been going over some additional training from Ripple Training, Specifically lesson 14 from their title “Final Cut Pro 10.1 In Depth” and they are saying exactly what you said Bret, my bad. Which brings us back to the OP question, which is a good one, and Im looking forward to an answer.

Does the order depend on if you are consolidating out of the library, versus consolidating into the library?

Perhaps you’re right, it just seems to me that you need to get all of your eggs in the one basket before you move or copy the basket.

I was just looking at Ripple Training’s Media Management Commands and they are presented in the following order:

    1. Consolidate
    2. Move and Copy
    3. Export/Import XML

Hmmmm… just how did you copy the project? You first need to consolidate a project, event or library before you copy it. It kind of sounds like you may have done something backwards maybe?

Ok, Any idea why they didn’t work right before the year 2000? You did say these were DV tapes, right?

I just imported 7 DV tapes that were recorded back on May 5, 2006 and the creation date and time of the recording is what determined the name of the file. Are you not seeing that?

  • No, you can’t sync clips from multiple events, they must be in the same event. You can copy the clips from one event to another, but you should have imported all of the clips into the same event in the first place. I would have assigned camera names and angles to the clips as I imported them from each camera, then you could select all of the clips and synchronize them.

  • There are several ways to accomplish a backup, personally I have an identical drive that is backed up every 3 hours using Carbon Copy Cloner.
