Yes, it is definitely too new a set-up to have those old plug-ins work. Those must be some pretty old files someone handed you. ;o)

There is good news and there is bad news on this.
First, the bad news is that if we fix this for your situation, then it will break for those who use the Google pop-up blocker.
The good news is that if you right-click on the banners (or CTRL-click on the banners for Mac users), you can select “Open Link In a New Window” and avoid the issue that way.

Yes, the older version of Knoll Light Factory was called Lens Flare Pro. That is the program your files are calling.
What version of AE are these files working in?
What platform are you on? And what version of the OS are you using?
I ask, because I may be able to find you a copy through one of the VARs or dealers I know who used to work with Puffin Designs (who distributed Knoll Lens Flare Pro) but it is going to do you no good if it’s the wrong version and won’t work in what you are using.
I am willing to look but you may be hosed…

We have this on the drawing board to allow this only until 30 minutes have elapsed or someone responds to your post — then it’s locked.
It is being worked on and will appear shortly.
But Vizrt *now* owns Curious gFx and the old press release you referred to, was the agreement with the original developers, Curious Software. With the sale to Vizrt, Adobe had to strike a new deal.
Sometimes, it’s better to look before you leap, especially when you want to try to make someone look bad as if they are asleep at the wheel…

Anytime you are upgrading a major change (or even relatively minor ones for that matter), it is far safer to just add another harddrive and use a dual boot system — especially when drives are so cheap nowadays.

Hello Dave,
After following this thread, I thought that I might add here that the Boris Keyer (for those with BorisFX) is a great keyer when working with DV25 files. Somehow, the algorithm they are using seems to understand DV and works accordingly (though no DV-based keyer is going to be perfect). At least that’s been my experience.

No, Chris, you are not crazy. There used to be a Silhouette Roto forum.
We are up to forum #197 and yet we have only 133 active forums at the moment. Over the last four years, over 60 forums have been deactivated. We do not want to be a site like those you find elsewhere where they have 350+ forums out of which only a dozen or so have any real traffic. We work hard to build a site wherein our users can expect to find something of value when they click a link. In some other sites, I have seen forums active which have not had a post in over a year — well, unless you count admin posts or spam. We do not want to be that kind of site.
The Silhouette Roto forum had languished to the point where people were not posting there and about the only posts in the forum were those of a commercial nature. So we unplugged it.
We have a few “deader” forums but they exist here due to the fact that there is no other place for those remaining users to go when they do need help. That was not the case with Silhouette Roto which has a manufacturer-run forum. So, the general rule is: no dead forums; the exception is we’ll keep it in the case of some tools if we are the support arm of last resort — as long as an expert or a manufacturer’s rep is willing to remain on-call so that help comes when needed.
We may add Silhouette Roto again in the days ahead, we have done that with more than a few forums over the years where we retry them later — sometimes, they work on the second or third try. We’ll see what happens.
