I have a project that another company made that I need to make a minor tweak to! This is a simple change of logos on a network package that has MANY parts. They have an effect in it called Lens Flare Pro that is missing. I have plenty of Lens Flares but it would save a lot of time if I had the actual plug-in and not have to replace the effect in each file. I found a Knoll Lens Flare Pro for Discreet but not for After Effects. Does anyone know of another company who might make this?

    Thanks > Craig

    Hey,

I think it is but when I downloaded there Light Factory 2, it still says its missing when I open the files and there is nothing inside of Light Factory 2 that says “Lens Flare Pro”. I’m wondering if there is another one out there or if that was an old version that is now built into LF2. I have about 20-30 files that reference it though and it’s gonna suck if I have to go back in a replace that effect each time and animate it, you know?

Yes, the older version of Knoll Light Factory was called Lens Flare Pro. That is the program your files are calling.

What version of AE are these files working in?

What platform are you on? And what version of the OS are you using?

I ask, because I may be able to find you a copy through one of the VARs or dealers I know who used to work with Puffin Designs (who distributed Knoll Lens Flare Pro) but it is going to do you no good if it’s the wrong version and won’t work in what you are using.

I am willing to look but you may be hosed…

    Hey Ron,

    Thanks for your help!

I’m using AE 6.5 on an Apple G5 running OSX 10.4.1. I’m betting that is too new for that version…. right? That was my fear all along and I bet I’m up for hours of adding new Lens Flares! 😉

Thanks again for looking into it.

Yes, it is definitely too new a set-up to have those old plug-ins work. Those must be some pretty old files someone handed you. ;o)

Oh well, it was worth asking to see if on the old chance you were within range.

Remember the “I think you are hosed” comment? — well, I am afraid you now indeed are.

    Best always,

    Thanks anyway!

It’s not as bad as it first seemed here either, they don’t need as many elements as they originally though! This is a project for a USA Golf Show that they did like 3 years ago and they came up with a new network logo. They don’t want to redesign their package, just change the logo! D’ohh!

    Thanks again > Craig
