Draconian? It’s just commonsense.
You hit the nail on the head, Tim: “…the way a client is at first is the way they will always be.” (Is that Ian Hunter and Mott the Hoople I hear playing somewhere in the distance as the soundtrack to this whole thing… “Once bitten, twice shy, babe!”)

Or if you watch some of the cable networks, they can be so large that they are now thinking of changing the name to the “outer half.” This will leave the middle area of the screen as the “quarantine to center” area of the screen. Then, using the “quarantined” area as that which is having the main show going on, you can then break each of the outer areas — the left, right, upper and lower zones — into what will then be known as “12.5s” (with 50% divided by four, which gives us our 12.5’s to work within.) We can then use the “left 12.5” to accost the audience of the upcoming “Monk” episode, while the upper 12.5 could be today’s latest courtroom mega-drama. Down in the lower 12.5, we could have the news of the latest natural disaster and in the right 12.5, we could have the latest about the President’s approval ratings — or not.
In the end, imagine the possibilities. TV for the multi-taskers instead of those pesky simple stories that aren’t bobbing and weaving, jumping up in your face and telling you about the next great thing that you could be watching, if you weren’t wasting your time watching what you’re watching now.

Hi Stolichnaya,
Yes, I come from a long line of Dutch dairy farmers who hail from the Friesland area of the Netherlands. My family were dairy farmers for many, many generations. It’s how I learned to be a workaholic; this, as cows never know it’s summer and that you want to go surfing, or that it’s a holiday and you want to go skiing. Cows only know that they are hungry and you need to feed them. It’s a seven day a week, 365 day a year job.
Perfect practice for building something like this. ;o)

I would have to agree with you, Dennis. After all, one of the most successful cameras in recent history was the Canon XL-1 and let’s be kind and say that it was easily one of the ugliest cameras ever made. I remember when I first got mine and people would ask what it was, there was always a hint of doubt in their voice — it was never a strong complimentary tone but rather a doubtful inquisitive tone.
But it made many people I know, a lot of cash. A lot.
Even with that funny twisted angle thingie it had going on…

Why would it? Panasonic has far too much to lose to do something as self-destructive as some here imply. They have made huge strides in the camera marketplace over the past few years. They’d have to have utter (udder?) morons at the wheel to take what they have acheived over the last few years and trash it by doing something that would hurt their buyers. Considering that they have given the market an under-$10,000 camera that does many of the features of $60,000 and up camera, I have no doubt that a camera like this will have compromises — but will they be so egregious that they will keep buyers away? I doubt it.
That’s my thought on things.

Barend is right on the money here. Cinepak was designed back in the early 1990s so that the 1x and 2x CD-ROM drives could play video games in the very early days of computer games. (You know, the ones with the huge grainy pixels and tiny little postage stamp videos that played a tiny animated overlay area atop a large still image in the background that tried to fool the eye into believing it was a real animation.)
Do yourself a favor: Break the Cinepak habit.
