As I joke with my kids, I am not getting senile, it’s just that with all the people, books, movies, music and all the other memories I have, my brain is full.
I guess I am going to have to actually use the effect again, then I will remember it. It’s been a long time since I threw old TV look onto anything.

This part of your problem can easily be solved by rendering out to sequential numbered image files instead of rendering out to a Quicktime movie file, etc.

…or they charge your card and you get the privilege of fighting with them for months until they finally refund your money. (The best way is to call your credit card company right away, explain the situation, and cancel the charge.)
Or you can get smarter still and avoid the whole thing by not doing business with them in the first place.
