October 25, 2011 at 10:56 pm in reply to: Bizarre Color Shift in FCP but not in SOURCE CLIPS

    Hi everyone,
    Hi Lou…

I have to say I have the exact same problem.

I shot some footage on the 5D MkII, with cinecolor cinestyle flat profile. I then converted them to Prores_422LT, and opened them into FCP7. the footage on FCP7 is just dark and over saturated…

    FYI:

    1) I installed the Pomfort DSLRLog2Video trial when it came out. Had no problem. Now it expired. Maybe it could be that? How can I uninstall it?
    2) I also installed the LUT Buddy plugin. Could that be linked?

Last thing, I don’t add any filter or anything in FCP7. It simply displays the weirdest colors i’ve even seen in both parts of the viewer.

    Imac 21’5 – I3 – 4GB

    Help please?
    Ta,

    Romain

Well, Thanks a lot for that… I have to admit, I’d like to avoid tempering with the DB altogether. And anything that would allow me to know if the clip I am missing is in the bin would be a good start. After that, I will still need to be able to recover the clips identified, one way or another.

I’d love to have that beta version.
But I’m willing to wait till you have a more final version.

    Thanks Rolf, you’re the man!

    Hi guys,

I wanted to add something: The catDV version we now have (8.1.6) has fixed all of this. We can now delete from queries really easily. The process is a lot smoother, and it is much better since we can delete duplicates as and when we find them, being in a query or while browsing a catalog.

The more I use catDV, the more I realize its potential. And although I still find it quite memory hungry (speaking of RAM here), it does the job pretty well.

Thanks for all your help anyway.
    Best,

    Romain

  • Rolf,

Since you’re here (and thank god you are here!), could you give a tip on how to get to the data via SQL if needed? I may have to recover a few more by the end of the week and cannot keep using up your time! :p

Thanks again for your precious help!
    Romain.

Ok, spoke to Rolf, my catDV’s version has an issue. So we’ll have to do it via the SQL command line… But if you guys usually do that, do let me know how. I’d really appreciate it.

How can you filter a view if you do not load the whole catalog first?

    Hi guys,

Quick question: how do you recover something from the RECYCLE BIN catalog if you have over 50,000 clips in there? My catDV just isn’t happy opening it. And it seems that I can’t search a single catalog (the bin) for the clip i’m looking for, and therefore limit the amount of entries in the result of the query.

    Thanks!

I am on a mac – I will search for those log files and send it to you if I have them.

yes, an exception error mentioning java: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6320711/CatDV-Error-Deleting.png
Any idea why is that happening?

    Thanks Matthew.

it has been a really painful process, but we managed to clear the system of duplicates somehow. Deleting clips from the query result (in editing mode) is not always working on here. Somehow, moving the clips from the query result window is also a no-no. I would have thought I could treat this search as a regular query and move/edit/delete any entry as I please.

Instead, we painfully went through all catalogs, searched for duplicates, marked them with a custom field specifically created for the purpose; we then moved them into a single catalog of duplicates where we could compare entries side-by-side and then delete the ones that were not needed or not up to date.

After that, we moved the lot back to the catalogs where they belonged to in the first place….

    Thank god it’s over!
