It should prompt you about any drives that aren’t loaded but will continue and restore the other available files if you press Ok. Then you can mount the other drive (and choose it as the archive location if necessary) and restore from that one.

It’s displaying the unix user id, as returned by an “ls -l” command. Previously the Mac Users & Groups system preferences pane used to show the user id as well as the full name, now it only shows the full name, so I don’t know where you’d find the short user id these days I’m afraid.

You mean the file metadata field? That’s set to the Unix userid that owns the file. Unix has a both a short user id and a full name. User id is the important one and the one that is unique.

A lot of screens in CatDV that contain tables of data let you copy the data to the clipboard, from where you can paste it into Excel etc. We’ll take a look and see why the Browse Catalogs and Disk Space Tool screens don’t do that, should be fairly easy to add.

The API allows you to perform queries, so you can define statuses and queries to suit your particular workflow. I believe the example apps we ship look for values in the Status field such as “Awaiting Review”, “Approved”, etc. but you can change those and use your own words as required.

I think when we first developed the ALE export capability NTSC and PAL were the only valid formats (see https://www.24p.com/PDF/ALE_Spec.pdf for example) and we set that based on the setting on the General tab of Preferences. If you have documentation or examples that show newer ALE capabilties please send it to support@squarebox.com and we’ll take a look.

Without having time to look at your workflow in detail now (en route to NAB) there are a couple of CatDV features that migh help:
    – right click on a sequence in the tree navigator and you can view the source clips in a sequence, you should then be able to do an HTML print of the view
    – some sort of bulk edit to rename the sequences might help
    – if you have a catalog containing lots of master clips (different files) and subclips from those master clips, use Automatic Grouping > All Fields > Source Media or Import Source, to see a list of master clips and click on one to see all the clips that relate to that file

Another option is to use the Verbatim Logger and the Notes field. If the Notes field contains timecode on one line then a line of text on the next the verbatim logger will import that, then when you press Apply it will convert that to markers. (Conversely, if you have markers and go into the verbatim logger, you can press Save Text to move the markers to the Notes field instead.)

I can’t reproduce that in CatDV 10.0.2 so it’s possible it’s something we have fixed.

Yes please, please send a copy of the XML file that isn’t working to support@squarebox.com, together with a description of the problem. If you have aspect ratio problems then a screenshot that shows how the clip appears in CatDV and how it appears in Premiere would be helpful also.

The Paste Metadata command only works within CatDV but is useful in all sorts of situations, including when you import the same list of clips twice using different mechanisms.
