Different Presets are wired differently. Some presets use keyframes (on Selector Range parameters and/or Animator Properties) to set up start and stop times. Others use Expression sliders (Effect Controls) which can be keyframed to start/stop the animation.
The Broadway preset seems to have a bug in that the Frequency Expression Control Slider is not linked to the existing Expression. I’ve fixed the link and added an Expression Control for Minimum Opacity.
Take note of the keyframes (hit U) when the Text Layer is selected to view the keyframes. The two sets of keyframes are required to complete the stop.

When the Eraser (or any Paint Tool) is selected, the Duration pop-up menu allows you to select the duration of each stroke that you input. Select the option that best meets your needs.

If you removed the Anchor Point keyframes and reset its value then that’s one part of the step (it should be noted that mochaAE CC2014 works differently from previous versions by not exporting the Anchor Point data). Your other options now, in AE, is to look at whether you require the Rotation and Scale keyframes. Often times, these two data types are not what you need – either you delete all the keyframes or a very basic, 2-keyframe manual solution does the trick.
As for smoothing out AE’s own tracker data, you may want to track multiple times and then average out the tracking data using Expressions – do a COW search to find out the mechanics on this.

Why are you using Color Key and not Keylight? As an aside, have you tried extracting a Luma Matte? If all else fails, you will have to roto – where mocha is the tool of choice. With mocha, you track the sword with a slightly loose tracking spline. When the track is done, you link a tight roto spline to the tracking spline – then keyframe the roto spline.

What are you trying to track? The green background or the actors, as they walk across the set?
What is the purpose of the tracking data?
Is the camera moving?
Post the video if you can, otherwise a screen cap MIGHT help.

Go to Prefs>Media & Disk Cache. All that you need to do is there. It’s a good idea to Empty Disk Cache before changing the folder location – this ensures that you do not have cache folders scattered everywhere.

mediaIOserver.exe is a mocha file. It may have gotten corrupted. Do an OS search to find out where it resides on your machine. Then see if you can replace the copy on the faulty system with the same file from the ‘clean’ system. Of course do these while mocha and AE are not running.
