I might add that when using toast to burn blu ray it will re-encode even though you send it a previously encoded file. You can tell toast not to re-encode but it still does. The way to get around that is to check the do not re-encode box and then make a disk image instead of burning the disk. Once complete, mount the disk image and use disk copy to burn final blu ray disk.

Apple’s implementation of the H264 codec is not great and does cause a gamma shift. You can download the open source X264 codec and use that instead. It’s far superior, no gamma shift and retains more detail than H264. Larry Jordan did a feature on it a while back, you maybe able to find it still even though he has since shut down.

Sorry, I have no experience of that converter. In FCP go to the browser and right click on one of your clips. Choose item properties > Format. In that window, field dominance, should say “None” if it is Progressive. If it says “upper” or “lower” then it is indeed interlaced.
Also check your sequence settings, where field dominance should be set to “None” for Progressive. Could be that your converter didn’t do what you expected.Oddly, when I tried to post this message it was blocked because I used the name of the converter you used, despite the fact that you used it’s name. Guess the Cow is having an off day!

Use Clipwrap or Editready to convert your clips to Proress 422 prior to import into FCP. Be sure to use the transcode option rather than the Re-Wrap option, which although allows you to view the footage, is still long GOP, which FCP can’t cope with. The transcode option makes it all “I” frames.

It beats me why Sony would pull it when so many people are still using FCP7. However, the Sony plug in works with JVC XDcam EX so I would imagine the JVC log and transfer plug in, which is available, will work with Sony XDcam EX. Worth a shot.

I’m not completely sure of your intentions here but it would be relatively easy to create this in Photoshop, with any required areas of transparency and a text glow to give the color fringe. If you don’t have, or use Photoshop, ask someone who does.

It’s a long time since I used Livetype. However, in Livetype project settings set the field order to none. In fCP sequence settings, field order, None Set. That will give you progressive.

I’m not familliar with the Panasonic 200. The HVX200 records to P2. However, Panasonic use their own variant of AVCHD which is AVCCAM.
