    Ron,

I can appreciate the need to keep jokes rated ‘G’, however I also must say that the Lounge was a high point for me after doing my usual research through the other wonderful forums without having to leave the Cow. Yes, there were some udderly tasteless attempts at humor, but I think they could have been ‘moderated’ out.

Since jokes do not have to be timely as the other postings, I would be happy to be a moderator and only let the ‘G’ rated ones through. After a hard day pushing electrons and digits around in a pleasing and profitable way, it is only fitting that one take a moment to reflect and perhaps laugh at the human condition.

  • Jonathan,

Typically, I export the desired frame to bmp in Premiere, then go to Photoshop to de-interlace (I’m using Creative Suite CS2). I use interpolation and not duplication for the deinterlacing.

While I’m in Photoshop, I also work on the contrast to open it up a bit for print using levels (not auto-levels). Finally, if I need to scale up, I also use Genuine Fractals, it is a very good and cost effective program.

    Alex,

Thanks for the input. I think I’m a bit dizzy from too many quick learning curves in too little time…

    Alex,

Thanks for the post. I downloaded Gear DVD Mastering and it has the tape functions grayed out in demo mode. This is a bit of a bummer as I would like to evaluate that particular function. I’m somewhat forced to send in the Encore-written DLT’s and see what the replication house can read. If all is fine the project goes out. If all isn’t fine, then I continue my quest in the meantime.

It just seems odd that I can’t see what is on the tape via Encore. This seems to be a serious flaw in the software for producers who are going to replication.
