I’ve shot events with Z1Us and EX1s and combining footage isn’t really a problem. Maybe some slight color issues and quality differences that we pick up on but the general public will not see it watching their DVD, assuming DVD is the delivery method. If bluray is your delivery package the differences may be more noticeable. I’ve had no complaints thus far and I’ve shot a number of events with HDV/XDCAM EX combo. White balance was the biggest issue as the EX’s white balance was set up differently. Take the dive. EX image is pretty clean compared to HDV, let alone low light, DoF, focus pulling, over/under cranking, etc, etc . . . i love it . . . fun camera to use and play with.

Thanks for the advice! I was really looking at getting dimmers to control the strength of the light but as suggested I’ll go with the scrims and controlling it in other ways. Didn’t like the noisy audio as audio is difficult enough.

Soft light is my preference, although now and again I do like the hard light. The Arri kit I’m looking at includes 3x 650w Fresnels and a 1K Focus Flood. I think this kit would give me a variety of decent light. Thanks for your help!!

    Thanks Jason,
I’ve been hearing a lot of really good things about the Primatte Keyer from Red Giant. Thats why I came on here to ask people who’ve actually used it against other keyers. I’ve been hearing the same things over and over.

    Again, thanks for the input!

Thank you for your input!! I really appreciate it. And you’re right, you can’t do too much on the editing system if its rendering.

    Hi Craig,

    Thanks for the response.

Well, I flipped the camera over to see if I could locate the buzzing noise and upon turning the camera upside down the buzzing stopped and the image is ALL good!!! This was after it sat in the shade for about 15 mins. Over the next hour of shooting I turned the camera off maybe twice and every time I turned the camera back on i had the same situation, with same solution every time. Then the “flipping” of the camera or turning the camera upside down stopped working. Now, back at home and after the camera cooled down quite a bit more, you wouldn’t know anything was wrong in the first place. No buzzing upon start up. No fuzzy image.

I’m hoping that all it is, is the camera got too hot. Crossing my fingers for tomorrow. Same type of shoot. This time I’ll bring an umbrella and a small fan or something.

oh well, I’ll keep you posted on any other issues and stupid solutions.
