Bao mask avenger is a script that allows you to access the mask vertices as position targets via expression. It can also create nulls for you.

November 9, 2016 at 10:00 pm in reply to: Mocha Pro: replacing screens that move in and out of frame[Glenn Chung] “It seems like Mocha Pro is OK if most of the screen remains in frame, but does not like it when the screens appear or disappear…”
actually this is exactly where Mocha excels traditional point tracking. of course you need to have enough information and if necessary you can manually track to object out of frame which usually is usually only a few frames and relatively easier than trying to get it automatically.
about your shot. you would better of turning off the screens or use a grey background for the screen (load up a grey background). you can see how the glows scale up as you lose focus this means more compositing for you . you are also going to have to deal with the reflections. mocha does not need much to track well. good lighting and some texture and color.
as for the tracking planes in you shot. where the screens go off there may be some manual tracking but even without it look how it sticks. these are the settings. there maybe a few corrections here and there but this is perfect for mocha and could be done very easily.

Yes it is complex if you are relatively new to compositing. You can learn by searching the terms I used in the Ae help files (upper right corner of your Ae interface contains a search field). And follow along my workflow or similar workflows.
The workflow is tracking the shot to match the movement of the patch you are going to place instead. Read about the 3D camera tracker. The other part involves creating the patch instead – you can do this in Ae or photoshop. After you have placed the patch where it needs to be, you have to mask parts that obscure it… Good luck.

there are a few ways to do this. all involve tracking and rotoscoping. since there is a lot of perspective it this shot, I would try using the 3D Camera tracker in AE. track the shot, find the plane you want to replace, create a target. create a solid and camera. test that it sticks.

now for creating the patch. I do this inside a precomp of the footage. freeze frame. (did it on 0:01:59:00 timecode) I create the stamp, then duplicate the footage and set the duplicate to “on transparent” (it does not work when you have one layer referencing itself…)

in my master comp set this patch precomp to 3d and shift parent it to the solid’s position so it will be placed in the same perspective and position in 3d space as the solid that was perfectly placed before. now it’s distorted in perspective because we placed in perspective what was already in perspective. so go to same frame where you stamped the clean part at 0:01:59:00 and add the CC POWER PIN EFFECT to stretch my stamp back to perspective (just use the pins manually to set it to frame)

now for roto. create a solid above my precomp. use masks in the areas I want and set to by my Alpha inverse matte for my precomp. create another solid for the pole to cover semi-transparent areas that show the purple bag

now your left with maybe a little color correction and adding grain.

2 options come to mind:
1. if the 3D layer that is casting the shadow is already in that color, you can set the light transmission in the material option of that layer to higher than 0% and you will see it tint.
2. if option 1 does not apply, you would have to do some compositing. separate your 3d layer from it’s shadow by duplicating it and setting the upper one to cast shadow – off, and the lower one to accept shadow – only. set the color of the below layer (if it’s text then in the fill color parameter), and set light transmission to more than 0%.Roei Tzoref

November 5, 2016 at 9:57 pm in reply to: Workflow confusion.. markers between comps and precomps?here is a similar example to what you have. I have a precomp inside 2 comps. the precomp has 3 comp markers like this:

I go back one comp to the master comp and set a dummy marker on my precomp like this:

and I choose update markers

now I have this

November 5, 2016 at 9:47 pm in reply to: Workflow confusion.. markers between comps and precomps?I am not following exactly what are you trying to do. if you want the precomp’s inside Comp markers to appear on the outside as layer markers then all you have to do is add one dummy marker and then right click on it, and you will be able to update ALL of the inside’s comps markers as outside layer markers. is this what you are trying to do?

actually you can update markers by right clicking on one of the layer markers and choosing “update markers from source”. it will then update the precomps’ layer makers to the inside Composition markers. you can do this after the fact and as many times as you want. if you didn’t have any layer markers you can do this by adding just one dummy marker to the layer and using this feature successfully.
