  • Richard,
Thanks for your response, it’s of great help!

    Your quote
“The easiest and most reliable method of doing this is to identify what transmitter make/model the microphone was wired for, and then emulate that connection.”

Any suggestion on a resource or area to search for specific transmitter make/models?
As I’m only finding small tidbits in groups like this about wiring problems for non-sony Lavs for the Sony UWP Series.

    one is a Samson T32 (micro 32)
one is a Sony UWP Series

I’ve tried esi (https://www.eserviceinfo.com/) a great resource for schematic and service manuals.

I have seen that Sony sells a UWP specific connector for $30.00 with a wire diagram.
I’m confident the diagram info is out there, it’s just so hard to find. (Google results feel narrower every year)

Again, thanks for your time and knowledge

    Rob

  • Thanks Brian I’ll check it out!

Thanks Graham but I’m not discouraged from finding a better solution.

It’s a Copy Utility after all. That fancy GUI ain’t worth the bending over!
(from the reviews of users, not reviewers I have read both here and elsewhere, Imagine Products’ Shotput Pro has an over obsession on license with little to no respect or support for their customer, no thanks!)

Maybe a talk with CCC could be a solution as it already is such a great product!

I did see two software update line items talking about FAT32 on the CCC website:

    v. 3.4.4, February 7, 2012

CCC is more proactive about dealing with the 4GB file size limitation of FAT32 volumes. Files larger than 4GB will now be excluded by default, and you’ll get a warning of this exclusion before running the task.

    v. 3.4, July 20, 2011

Added support for backing up to and from non-HFS+ volumes. Specifically, you can back up the contents of FAT32 and NTFS volumes, as well as the contents of a network-attached volume (e.g. AFP, SMB). CCC will preserve as much filesystem metadata as possible, and will warn when incompatibilities exist between the source and destination filesystems. Please note that clones of NTFS volumes will not be bootable.

btw, thanks to everyone on the cow, the expertise has been a great help over the years.

    Hi ALL

ShotPut Pro sounded like a great product but restrictions and problems others have had with Imagine Products support killed the deal for me.

So looking for a (Mac OS) alternative, I realized I was already using a trusted, reliable copy utility that does checksum analysis.

Carbon Copy Cloner from Bombich Software, Inc.

It is free to try. Shareware price starts at $15.00.
It has been around for 9 years.
I learned about it when I was in the apple line for the launch of the first iPhone. I was literally surrounded by a dozen or more Mac IT guys. Having hours to kill, I asked them all what the best backup utility was… they said Time capsule was iffy (at the time), but Carbon Copy Cloner was the one to trust.

That was many years ago but to this day it has always worked great on my regular backups and mountable clones. Here is a link to check it out:

    Hope the idea helps,
    Rob

    Hey Ted,

Canon software has issues above Mac OS 10.6.7 (canon does reference the 10.6.8 Don’t install in the download small print)
To my knowledge Canon has no support for Lion.
I did have Lion 10.7.1 and downgraded to Mac OS 10.6.7 because of soooo many issues I had with lion overall.

I had found a fix in the Apple groups to help the canon software work in Lion. It was to downgrade the Canon software to a earlier version. Because I redid my drive I don’t have the reference anymore as to what version, sorry.

Explore the Apple online forms (Apple calls them “Community” not forms) for Lion issues. I personally struggle with the Apple community interface but it is good source and very, very active on Lion OS issues…
Here is a link to get you at the lion form:

    Best,
    Rob

Long time Final Cut Guru Andrew Balis has an article on Moviola’s website called “Capturing HDV Into ProRes Via FireWire”. In the article is a link to free Easy Setups for Canon (60i, 30p and 24p) and Sony (60i, 30p, A24p, 24p)

August 4, 2010 at 1:41 am in reply to: internal or external RAID 0

    I would agree w/ Jeremy. I have 3 500gb internal hard drives on a 0 raid.
    Using blackmagic’s disk speed test, I have Read @ 222.9 MB/s and Write @ 225.8 MB/s.
My external (each on an independent computer lead) 800 firewire drives are slower.

Note: if you have multiple drives connected to one firewire cable going to your computer (a daisy chain of drives), speed will default to the slowest drive.

October 2, 2009 at 11:55 am in reply to: Multibridge Pro 2 Fan never stops – normal?

I have had the fan always on issue also. Yesterday I updated to 7.3.1
and ran final cut all day. So far the fan has stayed off.
I am more that frustrated that extended desktop is gone with 7.3.1
No mention of that change in the “read me”
Anyone know where this info exists?

I looked to the accompanying manual with the 7.3.1 update.
The manual is VERY out of date (march 2008).
On the Blackmagic website I can find no information to reflect changes to a host of updates and changes to the Mac Multibridge interface. Support library offers little if no help. Tech support is great but overwhelmed as it takes days for a response.
As I’m not running Mac OS 10.6 hopefully I can downgrade to 7.3.0 and get the extended desktop that I loved back!
