I’m pretty sure that I never have. If anything, then I have said it is a completely “new approach to editing”. Which it is. And a far better one at that.

Nothing. I was referring to the Twitter feed you get when you click on the @ Robin in your post. Has absolutely nothing to do with you. Something you may not be getting/seeing when viewing on an iPad. In which case, consider yourself very fortunate.

Actually, it does work. Only it’s extremely fiddly and frustrating. The forum here needs a major overhaul from the ground up, not just some colorful new icons.
Was all in all just a friendly heads-up in case you were hitting the same confusion I was in the beginning.

Er… no. If there is in fact ZERO audio, then it will of course not show anything either. It doesn’t just make something up, since that would obviously counteract the whole point behind it. Even the tiniest bit will register and be scaled to full height. So there definitely IS audio there, only it is extremely quiet. I also doubt that it’s just mere noise, since it looks almost identical to the other more visible audio clips.
So are these being listened to on decent audio monitors or headphones, or just the speakers from your Mac? Because I would bet you’d easily figure it out by simply using either of the former.

Sure. Use the CLIP Skimmer + I and O.

Nothing gets “screwed up”. Only if new shortcuts are added with an update, you (obviously) won’t have them in your custom layout. The reason why e.g. a lot of people weren’t seeing the command for overriding the connections at first either when it was first introduced and were confused.
Sounds like someone needs my training. ;-))

Yes, it is. One that has existed for as long as the command. I in fact even include the “fix” as a precursor in my training before I show it in practice. I have reported it to Apple on several occasions, telling them exactly that: “leave out the command key!”, so one can only hope it is fixed in a future update. In which case btw you’ll have to switch back to the DEFAULT layout to get it. Whereby you have to do that anyway to get any and all NEW shortcuts introduced with any given update.

So I guess you’re implying that others do and have, i.e. you know exactly what they’re are up to and what their roadmaps are? Anyone here going to say “NLE xyz is most definitely going to be around and in active development in 10 years!” with a straight face? First and foremost Avid? How exactly is Apple the big exception here, other than for the sake of the usual argument and insinuations? As if neither Avid nor Adobe ever “killed” anything?? :-)))

Actually, they didn’t in fact “kill” any of the above. They stopped development, yes, but all of them work just fine until today. Not even sure how one can say FCP of all things was killed, seeing that it’s still alive and doing very well. Shake, Soundtrack, even Color are still alive within FCP X, even if not in their full glory of yesteryear. Redeveloped? Reimagined? Sure. Just like e.g. Aperture was replaced by the redeveloped, reimagined Photo, which will ultimately become far more powerful than its predecessor.
And yes, Apple publicly stated their commitment to FCP for at least 10 years.

And still, whilst we’re on the subject of conjecture, even if those numbers may well be small compared to the overall user base, I’d say they still easily outnumber the ones that are with Avid. But then I’m guessing our understanding of what qualifies as “pro” or “actual production and post fields” is very different to begin with.

From what you describe, I have no idea how you are going to get around rotoscoping. Which, yes, is a huge PITA, depending on the footage. Things one has to think of ahead of time.
