  • I would pretty much bet the bank on user error as opposed to a “bug”. No offense. But it’s impossible to know for sure without looking at the actual project. If you’re able to upload it somewhere, I could take a look. But with that said, BEST is really only of any value or use when you have things such as massively scaled vector graphics or fonts or the likes. Otherwise there’s little to no reason or advantage to switching. It’ll in fact most likely take a lot longer to export with no tangible difference in actual quality.

So… PRE ProRes? Okay, sure. That was pretty much your only option, yes.

Erm… but if they can read Animation, they have Quicktime. If they have Quicktime… they can read ProRes… 😉

Why a shame? Animation files are generally (often A LOT) larger than 4×4’s. Even though I could, I wouldn’t use it.

I’d have to recreate what you describe to be able to answer to the bug problem, but why not simply make a group with all the names in it cross-fading and simply scale *the group*?

Good point Simon. Thanks for the heads up! Keep forgetting about that legacy codec thing in Mavericks (although MY machine/Motion *does* still “support” it 😉 )

I was saying: The only flavor of ProRes that supports an alpha channel is 4×4. Or optionally the older (and usually larger) Animation codec, yes. Need transparency, then you need either one of those.

Simply apply a mask to the layer and animate its position as needed.

Sounds to me as if you’re simply not using a codec that supports an alpha channel, such as ProRes 4444 or even Animation.
