Question is, why would you want a compound clip if a simple REPLACE does the trick? That only unnecessarily clutters your event with unneeded additional clips. And the whole “makes slow and unstable” thing is veeeery old. That applied to the OLD compounds that FCP had (until 10.0.6?). At least I haven’t heard or seen of it since. Especially since I just finished a project that had around *120* compounds in it…

I personally have never bothered with actual clip names, since there is so much more data to go by that the names have gotten completely irrelevant for me. But you might look into creating/using Smart Collections based on any given metadata that is relevant for grouping the footage as needed.

If you, as you should, have named your cameras and angles in advance, then FCP will in fact figure that all out for you and place the clips all in the same angle with the needed gaps. But again, that requires your having entered the appropriate camera and angle names first, so that FCP knows what belongs together.

Yes, which is why I asked. If they in fact were, then getting the actual original/optimized media later on and relinking could work. Otherwise you’re pretty much left with going through Resolve, Xto7 and back or the likes, yeah.

No, that definitely won’t work. Are the proxies in fact in the proxies folder? Meaning, are you editing with FCP set to proxy mode?

Interestingly, I just happened to look into the MAS yesterday (for something else) and was surprised to see FCP in the top TWO (grossing) of every single MAS I checked. All the big ones. US, Germany, China, Canada… ALL with FCP either in first or second place. And even averaging within the top 20-30 for the top PAID apps, whatever the exact difference is. But I can’t help but think it makes for some considerable numbers either way. The gist of it, for me, would be: no matter what the *exact* numbers are, they can’t by any means be bad.

Either way, as far as the EULA is concerned, that’s exactly what you’re allowed to do. Install on as many computers you own/control, only you’re the only one legally allowed to use it at any one time. Whereby YOU using it on all at the same time should technically be legal also, from my understanding.

The only way *I* can think of at the moment (and what I also do myself) is to open a copy of whatever it is in Motion via right-click, then simply save it into your own category and/or theme. With that you have everything you save from then on in said category in the respective browsers and *everything’ all in your new theme in the themes browser.
Unfortunately I don’t know what Ann could have meant since there is no such thing in X.
