Ironically I was actually going to suggest that exact same at first, but I couldn’t find it here in my inspector off the bat. 😀 Must not have had the right material selected or maybe I’m just going blind.

… or select a clip and hit CTRL-D and it’ll show in the dashboard.

I’d say the 16:9 flag is missing. Try opening one in the QT7 Player and setting it manually in the properties window (⌘J), saving and reimporting.

No, you can output to pretty much anything you want. If the default presets don’t offer what you want, then you’ll have to make the needed preset yourself in Compressor for use in FCP. But outputting to ProRes first and then recoding (especially to such a comparatively inferior codec) is absolutely non-problematic.

I had a feeling that a screenshot of the angle viewer (which I actually meant) might have been more helpful. 🙂 Glad it worked out.

Dare I ask if you’ve optimised and/or are using proxies?

[Ronny Courtens] “You can put them in a nest to group them, but when you apply video or audio effects to the nest and then you break the nest apart again you also lose all the effects.”

Exactly. Technically *every* clip is a compound clip. The effect is applied to its “container”. Delete the container, you delete the effects. As long as you know that, you can simply use the Paste Attributes to reapply them after the detach… if you insist on doing it that way. But then I, too, would opt for the disabling of the audio in the channel configuration (or anything else) over detaching either way.

So switching to a different angle or shifting the angles into a different order doesn’t change anything either?

Either way it sounds like you have missing footage. A screenshot may help to clarify.

  • Unfortunately there is no efficient way of doing this, since the timecode generator broke somewhere around 10.0.5. You literally have to go into the timeline of each clip individually and overlay it there. Sorry. A long standing request of mine, yes.

What I think he means, and it’s also roughly how I do it, too, is: you have ALL angles in one MC and you do a first pass edit with the angles you can see in the first bank (be it 2, 4, 9 or 16), then switch to the next bank and do a second pass and cut to possible alternative angles you like even more.
