Really no one else ever had this problem.. two different mac, two different OS.s .. two different card readers, different cables. and exp card slot.. I can’t be that unlucky.. must be a software thing.. (32GB mounts ok,only the 64 GB pro card,no access to 1 card so don’t know if thats different).Drivers loaded and up to date.
Anyone from Sony out there.. Iam now on 10.7.3 OS.. but also no luck with 10.6.8
Thanks

Hi Ian
Ok thanks.. Iam sure I read in the manual that digital ext dint work in 1080 mode ? is that not right.
Also sorry another question.. after I had down loaded the SXS drives, and UDF driver.. at a test today of the hoped improved down load times.. the 64GB pro cards wouldnt mount on my desk top.. they have done before (but with the slow down load) 32GB cards were fine.
After changing card readers ,cards and cables.. and trying another computer.. an older MBP with older software.. which worked fine.. it does seem for some reason that my computer is at fault.
I re down loaded the drives. but no cigar..
Short of just binning this one and buying a new one tomorrow .. any idea what could be going on here.. doesnt seem to follow any logic.. they mount without the drives.. with the drives they dont mount.. but 32 does.. all software up to date and installed ok.. rental place had never seen this problem.. or Sony support on the phone.. I dont want to say.. why me.. but it does look that way 🙂Thanks

Ok thanks.. what do you mean by.. it sounds like a better solution but its not.. out of interest..?

Thanks Don
Thats what I thought.. but saw a video review that was a bit unclear..and seemed to say Sony recommend only the pro version for over crank /under crank.. it may have been referring to SD cards being used in an adaptor..

Hi Will
Thanks for your response..
only need to rename if I have to re-initialize in the field
What do you mean by this..I always do a format in the camera after down loading on a laptop..?
Has XDCAM transfer been super seeded by XDCAM browser v2..
Thanks

Thanks Ian
Would having the UDF driver installed have any effect on the down loading time from the USB reader to an ext HDD then..?

Hi John
Thanks for your time sir.Sorry I think my last post was un clear.
I found and down loaded the drivers.. but was unable to locate them on my own computers HD.. down load was fine but when I just wanted to find where they had gone on my mac internal HD.. couldnt find them anywhere.. down load was successful just for my own analness I want to know where they are.. 🙂
ASAP I,ll go to the rental house.. shoot an hour or so of a focus chart or something and try a down load with the SXS UDF driver installed.. I didnt know that this driver was needed .. but anyway live and learn and i hope the lack of driver was the problem..
I was able to down load ok with out the driver, same as Bruce, but just at very slow speeds.. so hopefully as Bruce found installing the driver is the answer.. although I appreciate that USB2 will always be the slow option .. hurry up thunderbolt card readers !!

Ian thanks again for your time and comments..
Yes I see that as you say,its a red herring..
I could down load, playback etc without the UDF driver ,and according to shotput pro all files copied correctly.
Could the lack of the UDF driver be the reason for the slow down load.Yes I should just check it but dont have the camera/reader with me now at home.. but just wonder on your thoughts .. Bruce seemed to have the same problem, which was solved by down loading the driver..
Where exactly would I find the SXS device driver and the UDF driver in the HD..? done a search but cant see them..?
Thanks again
