I’m on a 64 bit system but continue to operate Vegas32. The reason for it is simple…. I have a huge investment in plugins (including Pixelan) that don’t work in the 64bit vegas 🙁

I have the SR11 (ntsc) and Sony Vegas pro and have no issues at all. I write to Blu Ray and it’s perfect every time. Given that, I can only assume that you are not doing things correctly or have a setting wrong somewhere

You don’t mention your workflow, export method or settings in any detail so it’s kind of hard to assist. Please state your workflow in detail from start to finish.

Why don’t you use Google Earth?

Don’t know if you have ever heard of it or use it, but it’s a free download. Google Earth use real satellite images put together in the shape of the world and you can zoom in on any part of the earth.

The last time I needed a map image zoom-in I used Google Earth and simply did a screen capture movie with Camtasia as I zoomed in on the part of the world I needed.

    Yes… mp4 supports surround sound but it’s most often AAC…. NOT…. AC3.

What you want is a M2TS container, not mp4. It supports both h.264 and AC3. It is also the standard for AVCHD that can be readily played back in most blu ray players. I’m not sure I have ever heard any one converting their avchd to mp4 with AC3…. this is not the norm.

I could be wrong but I’m not sure that MP4 allows for Dolby Surround sound (AC3)… but more to the point…. why are you trying to produce MP4 files?? Simply output your file as M2TS.

December 5, 2009 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Uncompressed QT Aspect Ratio Headache! Vegas Pro 9

I’m not sure where you got this info but you’re wrong on both counts. Vegas does not install QT and it CAN open TIF’s without QT

Vegas does rely on QTplayer (actually the apple codecs within the player since apple will not release them separately)for QT mov files and other apple related stuff.

But Vegas is no different from most other NLE’s…. if you want to work with any apple related formats/codecs you must install QT.

Well, I for one am part of the “Vegas community”… and maybe I’m the odd man out… but i don’t even have QT on my machine. Got rid of it 5 minutes after the first time I loaded/tested it.

QTplayer takes over your machine and and changes all of your file associations without even asking. Any program like that (IMO) isn’t even worth spitting at.

Even though it’s a fairly universal format and great for transporting material from one program to the other… I refuse to even give it the time of day.

    Is this HDV (1440×1080)??

The reason why I ask is that 1440×1080 is actually 4:3 but the pixels are rectangular instead of square (PAR=1.333). Uncompressed AVI does not support this…. only a PAR=1 (square pixels)

I have the Logitech Illuminated keyboard. Very quiet keys, short travel, very small. If you like laptop keyboards then this board is what you want.

Vegas automatically generates both a 5.1 file and a downmix file because it does not know what you want to choose as an end result. Maybe you don’t want 5.1 sound on the time line and you simply want stereo. Vegas doesn’t know the answer to this so it generates a downmix file to leave you with a choice of the file type you wish to use.

If you go to disk (so you can use the subtitle feature) then you will not have to re-encode. The subtitle file (time/date file) is a unique file that the dvd player uses and it stays SEPARATE from the video. If your final result is to be like a final file on a hard drive that you will use for play back, then you will have to re-encode to burn in the time/date into your video. When you re-encode you will always lose a bit of quality.
