I sounds like you want a duplicate of a sequence in a different .prproj file. My workaround would be to open a new sequence in the existing file (with the same or different settings), copy the sequence I want into the new one. Delete the original sequence, and save the file with a new name.
I’m sure there’s a more elegant way that someone with more experience could tell us about.

This reminds me of when I imported a project into PP from FCP using the XLM files. About half the project imported, the rest was glitches. Solved by importing the second half of the timeline as a separate file.
Have you tried converting clips 1-60, then 60-120, etc?Robert Withers

Gerry says he wants to work with a 23.976 base and and add 29.97 footage to it. So why are you advising him to do the reverse and what is the benefit of that and what would be the implicatons for post flow and release?

Hello Lee,
I have a couple Panasonic PV-GS300 camera that I shot some wide-screen “cinema footage” in but mostly 3:4. On input into both FCP 7 and PPro 2013 it seems pretty clear that this is letterboxed footage in a 3:4 frame.
I’m going the other way, importing into the 3:4 DV timeline that it selects automatically and trying to upres and deinterlace down the line. Don’t know how well that will work. Let us know how your process works.Robert Withers

I’m having the same issue, Walter. I signed up for your site, logged in. Click on the products page and can play several of your videos. When I click on Starting a New Project and click on Watch Now, I too get the Private Video image. Something seems wrong.

I’m just about to upgrade my 2012 MBP from 8 G to 16 G because it takes so long to render some effects in Pr and export some timelines in AME. This one has an internal 7200 RPM drive. Will let you know if I get a major speed boost from the additional memory.

It seems like we can go back to an earlier version, but once we’ve opened a project in an “updated” version the files and project can’t roll back. So I stay with Pr CC 7.0.1 for a long-term project, fearful of making unpleasant discoveries in the 2014 updates.
But that’s the standard suggestion, right, don’t update in the middle of a project.
I’m just grateful I was able to switch over from FCP to Pr CC in mid project without anything failing.Robert Withers

Thank you, Tom. I found it really hard to research this technical information, and of course your experience has the answer. So it’s time to pick up a couple more drives to stuff in my safe deposit box. I make these clones for off-site back up so they’ll get spun up once a month.

Dear Bob,
I don’t make a living with these movies . . . they are my personal art productions. I pay for them with my freelance work. I am heading beyond few TB for my backup needs. I can buy a 2TB WD USB 3.0 drive for $99 but my off-site safe deposit box is limited in size and I like to be thrifty.
If you can contribute any information about relative disk space used for clones vs disk images, which was my original question, I would greatly appreciate it.
I’m not concerned so much with speed of backup since I don’t do the off-site copies every day.
