I’m running Lion OS 10.8.5 on a 2013 MB Pro and keeping this machine to run FCP7 and also Premiere 2013 and 2014.
You may run into issues with Premiere as an alternative since they change their software about every year and require newer OS versions on the Mac as they go along. I’m thinking of buying CS6 from ebay for my 2013 machine to get off the infinite rental program.
Will consider FCPX and Resolve for newer machines.

Lack of backwards compatibility is one of the issues I dislike about Pr CC, but I think it applies to all NLEs.
Most camera formats I can transfer to ProRes. I don’t need to buy new cameras so often either.
Newer Pr CC can’t handle older tape formats, either. I have a fair amount of tape.
I keep a legacy computer running legacy software to deal with my older projects.
I guess the ultimate format these days is DCP.
No arguments at all, just sharing.
I started out shooting and editing celluloid. Technology changed over a hundred years but not so fast you had to change your tools every year ☺Best,

Premiere alone, right? Maybe that would be an option. I do use Acrobat and Dreamweaver often.

I had understood that the highest OS that would run FCP7 was 10.8.5 Mountain Lion. I’m keeping a machine in that OS to run FCP7 and Premiere CC 2013, which are fine for my editing needs.

This is interesting. Do you then have to pay $19.95 per month in perpetuity to use CS6? People are trying to sell CS6 Creative Suite online for about $2k. I don’t think I’m getting useful value from my $50/mo subscription since I’m still using CC “2013” because of hardware/software and long-term projects.

There is an option in AE to deinterlace but I couldn’t follow the suggestions. I used a Red Giant plug-in to deinterlace and uprez some footage with CC 2013 but don’t know what current versions are capable of. Actually that CC 2013 had a deinterlace option.

Don’t know that FUD guy. Just asking a question. Will a High Sierra machine boot from a spinning disk or only from an SSD? In other words, would I need to backup on an SSD to get a bootable backup disk?

Despite Adobe’s self-promotion about working with all formats, I convert everything into ProRes to edit in PrP, including iphone footage. (That said, I’ve never worked with iphone 60fps, only the approximately 30fps that my old iphone generates.)
Transcoding avoids a lot of problems.
Also you can try reducing playback resolution.
