There was a problem in the receiver. I returned the unit which was still under warranty to Sony. They replaced it with a brand new one.

Ty, thanks for the response. I am using a sony transmitter with lav and a mic cube that came with the package. Is the URX-P2 fragile and prone to having a crystal knocked loose if you drop it?
I get the low level his on the lav and a rode shotgun mic. thanks
