I think I found the cause of the issue:

I’ve just duplicate one of the two clips, so I have a multiclip made out of the same clip. Still the same problem. The multiclips in the viewer do not play. Then, it’s not a matter of different size or codec. Any other idea?

The only difference I can spot is the data rate: 6.8 vs 7.3 MB/s. Frames per second, codec and frame size are identical.

The two video tracks have to be synchronized (one contains a lecturer, the other one a screen capture). How would you suggest to deal with it?

If I try the “trim edit” in the “final sequences” – where I have all my nested sequences – FCP doesn’t allow me to trim, because of a “Media Limit on V1”.
If I trim the sequences from their own timelines, it still doesn’t allow me to drop the transition in the “final sequence” between the two sequences, even if I use a tiny transition and a huge trimming space.
I’m a bit lost here.

Also, how do I check how many frames is a transition long? I can open it in the transition editor, but the timescale is in seconds. Not sure if there is any better way of checking/editing this…

Thanks for the hint. I’ve also just realized Final Cut can automatically mark all audio peaks in a track.
I’ll definitely start using a clapperboard…
