Is there any change in the fact that Salvo’s cannot be run from the software interface?

Has anyone created another hardware panel for these routers?

Does anyone have experience making changes to the BMD routers via the OpenGear / Dashboard interface? Does it apply to this situation? Seems like it should to this NOOB!

Is this still true? That the data cannot be relayed/sent by a non ATEM switcher? Will the tricaster850 pass this camera number info? Obviously the camera number is created by the camera converter and passed by the atem. When the camera converter sees its own number on program it lights the light. Dogs this work when passed thru other switchers? It would make sense.

Also, the manual implies that the Tally Border only is visible in when the camera is set to view the program input? This cannot be right can it?

On the studio converter v2 there is audio disembedded for each fiber input. Can I choose which pair of audio is disembedded? Or is it locked to 1/2? Or is it only the analog inputs on the camera converter?

It is plain to me from reading their current version of the instruction manual for Media express that Media express will capture 2 discreet files. this may have not been a capability all along, but it apparently is currently.

It is my understanding that 3D recording and editing is 2 video streams. and then somewhere in post production it is combined.

I do see where you are coming from saying that it puts out one “Muxed” 3D stream, but at least in Media Express it appears that it is possible to record 2 separate streams.

But sometimes i feel that BMD can be a little spotty on “Full Disclosure” and i have learned to FULLY APPRECIATE all info that is out there. I dont want to assume something as i did when i thought that my Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 could record in ProRes…

Is the ability to only record a single SDI stream still true? Is this a wirecast limitation? The BMD media express advertises the ability to record 2 streams. Isn’t this the point of the 3d model?? Was this a limitation that was part of a partial release? What does it do if it cannot record 2 streams? I feel that it would be a really big let down to not be able to record/intake 2 streams. This forum is not the first place I have heard of this limitation, and I am waiting for direct info from BMD.

I have read on their site that media express CAN record 2 streams out of the device. That may be an exclusive feature to their software but it would be really sharp if wirecast could have 2 sources come from the two SDI-IN’s….

This topic appears in the FCP section, but i am trying to accomplish this in Compressor.

In compressor there are filters that can be applied to the export settings. I want to add timecode, but i also want to add a custom name to the burned in data. and like the above poster i want this to be automated. I am a shooter, not an editor. I want to provide low rez burned in footage to the director and full rez files to the editor. and i want them to be able to talk intelligently about them.

I think there is some kind of code that i can insert into the “Text Generator” field of compressor that will make a REFERENCE and pull that metadata field and insert it into the burn in.

for example: (i found this on a windows based burn in tool)

“The Custom text control allows you to provide a short piece of arbitrary text (up to 255 characters in length) to be burned-in with the metadata. This might be a comment, or an identifier that you use in your video project. You can also use one of the following special formatting codes which expand to the name or pathname of the input file:
Custom Text formatting code Description
@P – The full pathname of the file – e.g. C:examplepathnamemyfile.avi
@F – The file name (including file extension) – e.g. myfile.avi
@f – The file name stem (the part of the file name that preceeds the extension) – e.g. myfile
@e – The file name extension – e.g. avi
@@ – The ‘@’ character

I do not ever want to get to FCP, i want to stay in Compressor. Some kind of metadata reference syntax…… Any ideas?
