I use both inline often, when converting from a DVD-player to HD-SDI. SDI monitor patched at first conversion, and at second up convert. I have not noticed a delay… So I guess it would be better to say the delay, if any, is not noticeable.
In the world of individual frames, this answer may not be acceptable.

Make sure it is properly seated in the PCI-e Slot. If there is any movement on the breakout cable (Frequent cable connect/disconnet) over time it can overpower a poorly secured card.
After that, you could try uninstalling. If on your next boot, it notices the hardware, the card is probably fine.
I would also try moving to a different PCI-E slot if available on your MOBO.

I don’t know what type of computer you are using, but we have used literally hundreds of these. 3 times, on a very specific motherboard (Asus P5KPL-CM… junk by today’s standards) I have seen the PCI slot itself stop functioning. Yes this is a motherboard issues, but the symptom was a non-functioning Intensity Pro.

December 6, 2011 at 11:46 pm in reply to: Blackmagic Intensity Pro + Xbox360 realtime playback

There is a device you can purchase that will allow your Xbox 360 to output video over HDMI and audio over the supplied dongle that terminates to L/R RCAs for analog audio output. The factory Xbox analog converter blocks the HDMI output. This device doesn’t allowing you to connect both.
Then configure the intensity pro input Video over HDMI and analog audio over the supplies breakout cable.

Also has Toslink optical audio, not that you can take advantage of that in this situation.

On a side note, I thought XBox360 had HDCP on over HDMI, but i never tested it. So thanks.

October 13, 2011 at 8:41 pm in reply to: DecklinkSDI audio drop outs

We are seeing a similar problem on some of our machines: We are seeing random audio blips/spikes equipped with BMD Decklink SDI or Studio 2 cards. There is normally a drop in video frames (a few frames of black) associated, but not always. Sometimes the audio blip has a high pitched chirp tone as well. When looking at the SDI input feed with media express, we can see the audio levels on embed channels 1 and 2 peak out at max. Occasionally we are see levels across channels 1-8. We are noticing these issues when the source is NTSC or PAL (no symptoms with HD-SDI formats)

We have one location with 6 encoders connected to a BMD Router. When multiple encoders are patched to the same source, they are all experiencing this anomaly at the same moment. This should eliminate the possibility that the issue is being created/manifested at the card itself.

Some sources types are worse than others. Most of the situations we are experiencing this have an a source that originates at a Satellite IRD, though we have seen it with Xserve.

We are currently using the new 8.6 drivers, but have had the same issue with 8.5, 8.01, and 7.93

Any ideas, suggestions, or verbal beatings would be appreciated.
    Thanks

October 3, 2011 at 9:03 pm in reply to: Ultrastudio laptops

We purchased an MSI GE 620 to go with our Ultra Studio after hitting several USB 3.0 dead ends with other laptops. Yes, the MSI GE620 will work. But I must preface that we had issues with the laptop itself.
I had 8 busy days to give this project a shot, before the end user needed it.
The Ultrascope ran fine for the first day or two. After 3 days the laptop started to have boot issues and sluggish operation. The Media Express and other programs would randomly be unable to find the device. WME would drop frames immediately. I thought it was the ultrascope, but I dropped in an Intensity 3.0 and was having the same issues. Once every 3 or 4 boots, the planets would aligns and things ran well. The laptop itself began having more critical failures with performance outside of any capture related activities. I build 100+ computers/encoders every year and would normally run far away from any MSI product. I am really hoping someone finds another working model of Laptop.
