Thank you for your help. I was able to rig the generator for the size and also for the drop zones to be either on the right or left. Now I want to also add another drop zone this one being just a vertical drop zone that could be either right or left. In Mark Spencer’s ripple training videos he makes multiply changes by changing the opacity of the elements. I could do this to add the other drop zone. Is there a way though that I can have a pop-up menu that picks either the 2 Up Horizontal or the Vertical drop zone with the parameters of the rigs change to reflect which item I have picked?

I figured it out. I made two jpegs of solid colors the size of the separate videos, created a generator in Motion, imported the jpegs, did the rotation I wanted, click drop zone on each and cleared the drop zone. Saved it as a generator to be used in Final Cut Pro. I should have thought of this earlier.

Yes I have. I got a Motion PIP effect from someone on this forum. It only has one Drop Zone and a bunch of items under a Rig. I haven’t been able to add another Drop Zone to the effect and add a Rig for it also. What I have been doing is to use the effect on both videos and the control the size and rotation of the object. It works fine but it is not as easy as I would like. I do have to input the settings in each effect, where I would like to have the effect where there are are 2 Drop Zones, one will handle a 1024 x 768 video of a Powerpoint and the other Drop Zone is from a 720 x 480 video of a presenter. This drop zone would be considerably smaller then the first Drop Zone. Both of the Drop Zones are rotated in about 10 degrees to be at a slight angle with shadows applied to both. There should be an easier way to do this other then manual manipulation that I am currently doing.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of that myself, I was just trying to over think it I guess. Your way also solves the syncing problem. Thank you very much.

I am using Final Cut Pro X and can not find the anamorphic checkbox in the browser. There is a Spatial Conform property with Fit, Fill and None. The Fill seems to cut off the top and bottom to make the image fit the 16 x 9 ratio. I haven’t found any other way to make this work.

Yes you are right I did shoot it in 16 x 9, so it is anamorphic. When I bring this footage into a FCP 7 timeline I am asked if I want to the footage and timeline to match and it then does give me a 16 x 9 ratio. So how do I get FCPX to do the same thing?
