    Jim,

I’ve am constantly running into distortion problems due to mismatches on feeds from audio boards where changing the line/mic settings on my camera’s audio inputs does not help. My solution is to insert a Shure 15AS switchable microphone attentuator onto my camera’s xlr input. You can knock down the feed from the board by either 15, 20, or 25 db which allows you to elimnate the distortion in most cases.

David, thanks for solving the problem. I was able to remove the plate easily by popping up the end of plate that the arrow was pointing to.

For consistency before each shoot I calibrate the viewfinder’s brightness using the pluge bars. On the EX3 they are the 5 narrow strips located at the bottom right corner of the color bars.

When you turn up the brightness you will see these 5 narrow strips in varying shades of black and grey. Now turn down the brightness until the last strip on the right is barely visible.

I’m using a Sony 64gb SxS-1 on my EX3 with firmware upgraded to ver 1.15. Just got the card last week, formatted it and have recorded a and transferred about 120 of the 220 min capacity so far without any problems. I was lucky enough to get it before this week’s 50% price increase.

In order to make it easier to see what position the on/off switch is in, I used a white paint pen to color the small groove in the middle of the switch.

Another issue I have with the switch is that the space between each position is too short i.e., when you just want to power off the camera the switch ends up going to the media position.

  • Try exporting your footage as DV AVI from Sony’s Clip Browser.
Then import into Windows Movie Maker.
