    David,
Thanks for responding. I am new to FCP and HD.

I was also wondering if an upgrade to FCP2 would be helpful. I am thinking about the possibility of mixing the uncompressed AE files on the timeline with the DVCPRO HD files thereby avoiding the render back to DVCPRO HD required on FCP 5. Would it result in a significant quality difference in the final output? Or would it just up my storage requirements for little gain?

Curious why I got no response to this question. Does it indicate such vast ignorance that it deserves to be ignored?

    Thanks Walter.

While making the move to FCP from PC based editing I had hoped to continue to use Ultra 2 which which I am familiar. I supposed there might be a way to convert avi to mov, but I guess not. I’ll get After Effects and key in that outputting Lossless.
