https://community.avid.com/forums/p/180535/841332.aspx#841332This is the goto forum for many issues, especially this issue where Marianna Montague is of invaluable help. You’ll probably need to create and Avid Master Account.

We have AMA plugin version 4.8.2 on Windows. I can link to the folder containing the “Contents” folder – everything works as expected for me – it does recognize the entire card. however, I do not have spanned clips (spanned between 2 cards) to test. I haven’t heard of spanned or connected files only on one card … is there a file size limit for only one card? In other words, if the camera were to run without stopping to fill a card, shouldn’t there only be one file in the video folder? been a while since I have dealt with something that large on a P2 card.

I believe the h.264 codec is only MP4 – you can’t have the h.264 codec in the .mov wrapper …. maybe a smarter person than me can correct this information if wrong!

June 27, 2017 at 11:01 am in reply to: Can’t create AMA sample mapper to play this clip??I suspect the culprit is AMA Plugins. Different versions of Avid require different AMA Plugins. Here is a thread that explains in better detail: https://community.avid.com/forums/t/120761.aspx?PageIndex=1
You can quickly do a search to find ways to delete and reinstall AMA based on MAC or Windows if this is the reason for the issue.

For MAC uninstall it should be here, just drag to trash to delete:

I tried the MXF files thinking for some reason that would be better. I saved no time and only got headaches. I and my system loves ProRes – I would stay with that. MC v8 seems to work same as 7 in this regard.

I have same situation. I cut everything in Avid, 23.98, export SAS, use After Effects to do the pulldown (WWSSW) to 29.97i to deliver for Broadcast. Extreme Reach will not accept embedded Closed Captions in 23.98p – that’s why I must got to 29.97i. I then can deliver MPEG2 or ProRes MOV with embedded captions.

March 7, 2017 at 3:31 pm in reply to: Can’t get H.264 files smaller than ~5MB out of Media Encoder.I just had to deliver a :15 spot H.264, MP4 and it had to be under 2MB – I was requested to deliver it 960×540 and I was able to do this using (and slightly adjusting) the Android and/or Apple preset – 960×540 23.976fps. I was amazed it looked as good as it did. I did not try adjusting to your pixel dimensions though.
