August 11, 2015 at 10:04 pm in reply to: Sound out of sync when Vegas project moved to Resolve environmentThanks Wayne. I never knew about the re-render delay in the audio. Although that doesn’t seem to be what’s happening in my case, I’ll remember that for future reference.
My colleague suggested putting the rendered WAV files back into a Vegas project and exporting them. Initially I had given him just the rendered WAV files.
At first glance that seemed to have worked. The WAV files now seem to be in sync with the Video. More checking will be done tomorrow.

August 11, 2015 at 1:07 pm in reply to: Sound out of sync when Vegas project moved to Resolve environmentGood suggestion. I’ll try that, although I doubt it will help the out-of-sync problem.
When I generate a WAV file from my project and send it to the colorist and sound mixer, it drifts off sync. Could this have to do with the WAV file having a incorrect speed value in it’s metadata? How would one correct it?
The windows WAV file is 48,000 Hz, 24 Bit. -

November 21, 2014 at 11:48 am in reply to: Merging projects, changes color in preview windowI did not know that info was available. Thanks for the tip.
I found all “0s” in that column, in project 2 or at the top level project, which suggests there are no hidden fx.
The cause of the funny color remains a mystery. At least I found the work-around.
Thanks for the tip Mark! I’ll be making good use of alt 5 going forward. -

November 21, 2014 at 1:44 am in reply to: Merging projects, changes color in preview windowOK, now I have my work-around. I copied all of project 2, the contents that is, to a new empty project. If there was a media fx associated with the original project it was left behind.
So, I did ctr A to select all of project 2, edit/copy, open a new empty project, edit/paste the buffer into the new project. Now when I nest via drag and drop into a third project, I get good color in the preview window.
It would be nice if Vegas had a way of seeing what media fx is contained in your project.
Thanks again John and the others.

Anyway, I’ll take you “good luck” for now. Thanks. -

November 20, 2014 at 3:56 am in reply to: Merging projects, changes color in preview windowWell, I found the problem. At least I was able to correct it.
Looking in project 2, I began to suspect there was some track fx even though I couldn’t see any flags set. In a moment of inspiration, I decided to created a new empty video track and copy the whole offending track contents into it. Sure enough the super-saturation went away. I deleted the offending track (now empty), and I’m good to go.
Normally track fx is signaled by a brightened fx flag on the track header, right? There was none. Strange. Is there a way a track can be in an fx mode without a visible signal? -

November 20, 2014 at 3:13 am in reply to: Merging projects, changes color in preview windowI’m pretty curious so I’ll probably do a little more testing to find the problem with project 2. If I find out I’ll drop another post on here. Otherwise, ya, I’ll render it.
Thanks, John, for your suggestions. Great forum. -

November 19, 2014 at 5:09 am in reply to: Merging projects, changes color in preview windowYes, I tried dropping the second (offending) project in an empty project. It still looks very sick. I tested 3 other projects and they all look fine. It looks like somethings wrong with project 2, but I don’t know what. Perhaps if I try to recreate parts of project 2 from scratch until it breaks?
