No, D5 isn’t necessary; I just thought it was more of a superior format (newbie with this sort of thing.)

I’m just trying to build up some info before I start actually taping; doing anything major. I’ve heard that it’s best to know your final output before doing anything, to help avoid possible difficulties, but I do know I want to go DVCPRO 50 with the HVX200.

Thanks for the SD-HD uprez tip; it was helpful.

Thanks again for your input. Much appreciated.

    Hey there all,

Just reading the post and came across where FinalOne mentioned “Panasonic HD” and “uncompressed HD.”

What is the difference? I thought HD was HD. And, if such is not the case, then how many instances of HD are there? One for each manufacturer?

Could any of you recommened a book and/or website that might have such information?

    Thanks,
    Rick

There is a helpful article on Kenstone.net about encoding for YouTube. I don’t recall if it talks about already adjusting settings in FCP, but it helps in using Compressor to at least play around with to get into YouTub specifications.

Thanks for the great advice. I’ll try ’em out and see which I like best.

Again, thanks for taking the time to look and offering your help.

Well, I was trying for something a bit more basic. I’m a true novice when it comes to actual sound production and just want to ‘toy’ around with what mixing a surround soundtrack would be like. (Granted, I know that ‘sounds’ odd.)

Based on your reply, I take it the six discrete outputs would be for the monitors, but would the inputs be from a mixer? And if so, where would the mixer than be connected to?

Could there be another way to monitor each channel, without more equipment, if for only a ‘rough’ approach?

    Thanks for your reply.
