Animating square object
Hello, I’m fairly new to Motion, though have messed around with some of the Apple book tutorials to get familiar with the program. What I am trying to do, is to animate a square being drawn? Starting from midway through one side and then forming the other sides into a completed square. Is there any way to do this, even if it involves mega-keyframes?
I was trying to do as such using a Bezier line, because I wanted rounded edges on the square, but if I can just ‘draw’ it on screen, I’d be happy just with that.

I’m not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but the Sketches Template Open has something very similar to what you are talking about.
They used a Targa file that they just wiped on to simluate it being drawn on.
It is comprised of 4 seperate lines instead of 1 image.
Taake a look at that template and if you can’t use that exactly at least you be able to see what was done.

Simple way: Draw the box and then animate masks to “draw” each edge.
Complex way:
1. Draw a single straight line with the bezier tool.
2. Set the anchor point to the starting point (left if it is going to draw to the right).
3. Add keyframes to have the end point over the start point to begin drawing, and the second keyframe where the line stops drawing itself.
4. Duplicate 3 times (for the other lines that will make the box) and rotate, change position, and change start times as necessary.Jim Kanter,
