Thanks…any idea which codec works best? DV NTSC? SD Uncompressed 10-bit? The program contains PPT JPEGs and the expectation is that these images need to be maintained.

Short of a reshoot, I’d filter the image as suggested and then do a PIP with some B-Roll to redirect the viewer’s attention. Slight of hand may be your only choice here.

Just reinitialized with Journaling OFF. We’ll see how it goes. Would the FW400/HVRM25 chained to the back end of the drive effect performance?

Shane, it is Mac OS Extended (journaled). I’m fairly new to Mac, so I’m not sure what that delineation means. How do I go about changing that?

    Thanks.

Good question. I think it was plug and play. Also, I have a DV deck chained via FW400 into the back of it.

DV. Sorry for not mentioning that.

I’m about to hit the road (or so I thought) with an HPX 500, a new MBP 17″ and an AJ PCS 060. I’d sure like to know before I get on a plane. Apple said it’s unsure if the unit shipped with Snow Leopard or the upgrade kit, so I’ll find out in a few days.

Any way to confirm if the system you referred to was running the new O/S?

Steve, I looked at the 300, as well and was disappointed with the quality and durability of the lens. If you can spring for a better lens or pull the lens off of your beta rig until the cash becomes available, that might be a better solution.

I sprung for the 500 and put a nice Canon lens on it. So far so good. I love the 500 and the P2 workflow. I did purchase a used P2 reader so I wouldn’t have to use the camera to ingest.

I guess, for old-time sake, you could give me an alt version that way. But let’s revel in the bright, shiny light of new technology. I’m goin’ for it, Eric.

I actually have a Mac Pro with Final Cut Studio 3, but need to replace the “roadie”. Thanks…stand by on rendering that TGA sequence!

So can you create a timeline with several layers (four or so) of DVCProHD footage with this configuration or are you limited to two or three? The new MBP offers a 3.0 GHz processor that may help achieve it. What have you found?

    Thanks for your help.
